Przedstawiono specyfikę reform gospodarczych przeprowadzanych w warunkach ostrego kryzysu gospodarczego. Zaprezentowano działania zainicjowane przez władze Argentyny w okresie kryzysu oraz podjęto próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie na ile te decyzje były trafne.

In the 1990s, Argentina was perceived as a wunderkind and model of successful reform in emerging markets. In 2002, however, Argentina found itself in economic ruin, political chaos, and social collapse. Although the capital outflow related to the Russian crisis in 1998 and the devaluation of the Brazilian real in January 1999 are considered the direct triggers of the crisis, it is beyond doubt that the actual causes lay in poorly designed economic policy. Therefore, reformulating this policy and carrying out associated reforms are presently the main prerequisites for economic reconstruction and ensuring stable, long-term growth. In this article, the author presents changes in economic and social policies that were undertaken after the recent crisis. The first section discusses the specificity of the reforms implemented under crisis conditions, emphasising the related opportunities and threats. The second section presents the changes in fiscal, monetary, and exchange rate policies, in the banking system as well as in job market and public service sector regulations implemented in Argentina in recent years.(original abstract)
